SOLAS Science
The majority of projects that SOLAS has involvement with are externally funded individual projects located around the world. Individual projects conducted by various countries can be found in the SOLAS Networks pages. These projects share the same goals of SOLAS (as outlined in the SOLAS Science Plan and Implementation Strategy) but SOLAS has very little direct involvement with them.
A small number of projects are directed by the SOLAS Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) and are known as Task Teams. Typically these Task Teams perform specific actions such as formulating White Papers and addressing areas of significant and crucial importance.
Some projects specifically have foci that align closely with the SOLAS Science Plan and Implementation Strategy and require some formal recognition, for example in the approval phase of the project. These projects are called SOLAS endorsed projects.
Data sharing is facilitated by a metadata portal that allows users to deposit new data and/or search for existing data. In addition, the SOLAS Integration Project aims to produce global estimates of air-sea fluxes of gases and particles. SOLAS Integration is partly aided by the European CoOperation in Science and Technology (COST) Action 735, which is administered by the SOLAS International Project Office.
Inform the community of your science
The SOLAS community has been conducting scientific projects which are working towards a better global understanding of Ocean-Atmospheric interactions. There are a number of ways in which researchers can assist in the further development of scientific progress. Keeping the community informed of your Publications, Projects and Research Highlights is central. You can inform the SOLAS community of any news by following the links below:
